SAL Institute of Medical Sciences Community Medicine Department Successfully Conducts Family Adoption Program (FAP) under the Guidance of Dr Nitin Sir and Dr Himanshu Joshi Sir.

As part of the academic curriculum, the 1st-year students of SAL Institute of Medical Sciences, batch 2024-25, participated in the Family Adoption Program (FAP) under the guidance of the Community Medicine Department.

Program Highlights:
– 8 visits were conducted for 150 students, covering 750 families in Santej village, Rancharda.
– Each student was allotted 5 families, providing a unique opportunity for interaction with real people outside the classroom.
– Students developed essential skills, including communication, basic history-taking, and anthropometric measurements.

Community Outreach and Awareness:
– Students participated in an environmental awareness program, which included a tree plantation drive.
– A rally was conducted in two slots, covering different areas of Santej village, to raise awareness about life-threatening diseases that often go undiagnosed.
– Female students educated girls in the village about menstrual hygiene, while male students briefed family members on rally topics.
– A small-scale health education activity was conducted at the Santej village school, focusing on awareness about rabies and heat stroke.

The Family Adoption Program was a resounding success, providing students with invaluable hands-on experience and fostering a sense of social responsibility among future healthcare professionals.
