Free medical and health check-up camp at Patidar Hall in Bhadaj Village

On April 5, 2024, the Community Medicine department at SAL Institute of Medical Sciences organized a free medical and health check-up camp at Patidar Hall in Bhadaj Village as part of the Family Adoption Program, following NMC guidelines. The event, attended by 110 patients, included doctors from various specialties who provided free check-ups, medicines, and tests. Alongside, 150 first MBBS students participated with full enthusiasm, actively engaging in community outreach and assisting medical professionals. Through community engagement and health education sessions, attendees learned about preventive measures and disease management. This initiative demonstrates the institution’s commitment to accessible healthcare and collaborative efforts to improve community wellness.

On 27 April, 2024 the MBBS students of Sal Institute of Medical Sciences carried out a rapid drive for the search of mosquito breeding places in & around the allotted houses in Bhadaj Village under Family Adoption Program. Moreover, the family members were educated about various mosquito borne diseases and how to prevent their breeding. Along with that garbage disposal practices were noted and people were made aware about hazards associated with improper disposal of garbage. This was an impactful activity for improving the overall health of the community.

SAL Medical College, under the guidance of the Dean, Dr. Himanshu Joshi, recently, participated in Thalassemia Awareness Campaign in collaboration with Red Cross Society. All 150 medical students got screened for Thalassemia traits. A blood donation camp also took place on this occasion for which the students showed enthusiastic participation.

DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY, under the able guidance of Dean Dr. Himanshu Joshi, organized poster competition for MBBS students on the occasion of International Women’s Day, with the theme of “Invest in women : accelerate progress”. Congratulations to department of microbiology for organizing an excellent event on the occasion of Women’s day.

International Women’s Day 2024 was celebrated at SAL Institute with the theme ‘Invest in women accelerate progress’.
Keeping in mind the major health issue faced by women in today’s time – cervical cancer. We aimed at educating everyone about its prevention by vaccination and regular screening. The event was aimed at spreading knowledge and creating awareness about cervical cancer. It was an event organized by the women for the women.

The event was graced by Dr Harsha Parikh (Medical director), Dr Neha Shah (Director), Smt Mittal Bhateriya (Police Inspector, Mahila police station West).

SAL Sports Carnival was organized from 19th to 24th Feb 2024. It was an inter- disciplinary participation and competition amongst the SAL education students including MBBS, BE, B.Pharma, Management, and Architecture.

The different categories of Sports were Football, Kabaddi, kho-kho, Volley ball in Outdoor sports and Chess, Table-Tennis and Carrom were indoor sports.

Total 100 students are participated in this sports carnival.

Our Kho-Kho team bagged the second rank. Our one girl named Arti Swami who played excellently in table tennis was ranked first.

The Family Adoption Program was successfully initiated by the Department of Community Medicine, SAL Institute of Medical Sciences. Students of MBBS 2023 batch were divided in 3 batches and they visited the families of Bhadaj village. During this visit Health awareness and Health education was provided to the villagers. The people of Bhadaj appreciated the initiative. It was a great success of Family Adoption Program to provide Health education to the people of rural areas of our country and by this we align the aim of our nation to provide heights level of health care and health education.

The Department of Community Medicine hosted a workshop on “Subconscious Mind Mastery” on February 21, 2024, led by Dr. Kinnari Gupta, an experienced assistant professor within the department. We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Nitin Shah, our esteemed Medical director, Dr. Himanshu Joshi our respected Dean, and Dr Panchasheela, HOD for gracing the session with their presence. The active participation of all HODs, and all the faculty members showed the collective enthusiasm for the event. Throughout the workshop, attendees gained insights into the current landscape of the medical profession and the pivotal role of the subconscious mind in enhancing the quality of doctors’ lives. Discussions also delved into harnessing human frequency to leverage neuroplasticity for personal advancement. Attendees were equipped with practical tools aimed at reprogramming their subconscious minds, thereby enhancing their effectiveness and well-being as healthcare professionals.

Academic visit/ meeting and new year get together of all Dean, Director, Medical superintendent of Medical colleges and institutions affiliated with Gujarat University and special invitees, Deans and faculty deans of Gujarat states’ all Medical colleges/ universities was organized on 9^th January 2024 Tuesday at Sal institute of medical sciences. The event was hosted by Dr. Nitin Shah (Director) and Dr. Himanshu Joshi (Dean). The Meet and greet was enjoyed by all with important discussions regarding topics of academics.
